On May 6th, 2022, Sara Niemietz will perform at Myron’s At The Smith Center in Las Vegas. With her band now featuring TV personality Linda Taylor on guitar, Sara will perform her new album, Superman, for the first time on any stage. Be in the audience for this historic occasion.
Linda Taylor (Who’s Line Is It Anyway?) and Niemietz have formed a musical partnership and have prepared a new album. Sara and Linda worked remotely during the pandemic and released several singles, “Superman“, “Lovely Lies“, “The Dimming“, “GoodX3” and “Happier“. We don’t have a full playlist for Superman yet, but we do know that fourteen songs have been recorded at Horse Latitudes Studios in Glendale, CA.
Here is sample of what you might hear at the show.
Rounding out the band is Jonathan Richards on bass, Andrew Kesler (Accent vocal) on keyboards and Martin Diller on drums. These are the same musicians who appeared on Niemietz’s twentytwenty (2020) album. So far, Linda Taylor’s writing and musicianship tends to revive the film noir look and feel — similar to Sara’s Push Play EP (2012). However, Taylor’s classical guitar in the Tiny Desk submission of “Lovey Lies” gives this live version an even more haunting vibe.
Background:
For those who are unfamiliar with her legacy, Sara Niemietz befriended B.J. Thomas while singing along in the front row of his concert (at four years old). Some years later, she did a duet with him, “Hooked On A Feeling”, on The Living Room Sessions (2013). The Living Room Sessions (2013) is a now out of print album which, according to its producer, will never be available on Spotify. The album details are on Spotify, but without music. Thomas told AARP magazine in 2013, “She is the best female singer I’ve heard in my life.” Sara has appeared on Broadway and the Ellen Degeneres Show, written music with Keb’ Mo’ and Melissa Manchester. In addition to B.J. Thomas, she has recorded with Richard Marx, W.G. Snuffy Walden and is a featured artist on nine Postmodern Jukebox albums that have appeared in the top ten on Billboard charts.
